Good question, as I believe they are from the same Subaru plant...just a branding and finish difference

I believe he mentioned suspension differences and the additional premium not being worth the cost when he was getting a good deal.

I think the weight balance is slightly different as well.

I'm not sure what idiot would even draw up that comparison. Steve and Elon revolutionized multiple industries, but comparing the Model 3 to the iPhone is moronic.

The article is a rambling mess.

Apparently the residual for the new M2s are 49 - 51% after a 3-year lease. That's considered fairly low, right?

It might right for a new M car. Also, it hasn't totally wowed the press like was anticipated and it's pretty expensive. Mine on the M4 is 65% for reference for 24 months.

Why the 24 month lease? Thats a fairly uncommon length- were you trying to match the expiration to something else?

The LCI of the M4. But I decided against that and will save up for something nicer and more of an out and out sports/track car.

I don't know about the Ms, but a normal 3/5 series was in the mid 50s.  I wouldn't be surprised to see an M depreciate a bit more because there is a larger market for used 330.

It's probably a fair residual for the car. It may feel low because BMW has traditionally run lease subsidies that artificially inflated residuals in the past. If you're interested in leasing the car, you might want to see if they start doing that in the near future

Residual on my 2014 4 series was 60% at 15k/yr over 3 years.

@horndog just saw a review for a BRZ with a supercharger ($5k). Thing was rad. About 300ish hp for not a lot more dough. I bet it'd be a fun as hell car to drive!

Another thing that hurt was I got options most people don't get including the LED headlights and the CCBs. Normally the residual is set within a model, but those options are rarely ordered and hurt my residual a bit.
