Cars We Drive! - Page 1456

So this happened last week. I'm guessing the arresting officer feels like a moron. Granted I was being a bit of a dick in the Tesla to a C7 Vette - they're always white middle aged guys that want to race me and I'm a sucker 1 out of 10 times.

I rarely respect authority figures. I was being a smartass to the cops and got a ticket for obstruction of justice. My lawyer should take care of it.

The P85D only loses to F,P,McLaren cars and it's older brother, the P90D.

Where's the fun in that?

I agree.

It's been awhile since I last got pulled over (knock on wood) but I think the way to go is to just admit you were speeding if you were and be very apologetic and respectful. Then you might have a chance to get off with a warning, especially if you're driving a nicer car or sports car.

I get that admitting to guilt is seen as a huge no no to some communities, but if the cop is gonna be a dick, not admitting ain't gonna help.

Now, this is for cases where you're maybe 10 above the limit, tops. If you're seriously speeding where it's a felony offense, pleading the fifth and asking for a lawyer is the way to go.

I never exceeded 10+ mph over the speed limit, but I did decimate the C7. My problem was when I was sarcastic to the cop.

What speeds? All the videos I've seen online show Teslas smoking all cars off the line up until 80 mph or so, and then it loses out dramatically to the higher HP cars after 100 mph+

Please see the WTF Cops thread for my last run in with a dick cop. smile.gif

Rau, I'd also get your lawyer to look at his PC for the breath test.

I dunno man, if you'd been pulled over for street racing, I can see why a cop would be a dick.

Didn't know there were car meets around here. I haven't been plugged into the community at all tbh but I'll make a trip once the weather improves.

What kinds of cars come out? Any super cars?

Yea, I expected an inch of snow at worst.  When  I got home I had to get out the snow blower to clear the bottom of the driveway!

I believe the car meets in Wakefield are mostly BMW as its sponsored by BMWCCA.  I haven't made it to one of their events yet, but a few friends that own BMWs and Porsches have been and said they get some nice older BMWs 2002s, 3.0CS, and cars from other brands too.

The local Porsche region is having a meet at Sweetberry Farms in Middletown on 4/17.  They generally get 20-30 cars mostly Porsches but occasionally BMWs, a Ferrari or something else.

Not sure how close you are located to MA, but more frequently, I attend a cars and coffee meet near at Starbucks in Taunton, MA.  It's lot of Porsches, some Lotus Esprits & Elises, some BMWs, usually a few Ferraris, and occasionally a Maser or Lambo.  The core group are really good guys.  Some are DIYers, so there is always a good exchange of info about the cars, service, upkeep etc.  The group has been around for roughly 5 years and they occasionally do group drives to a lunch destination.  If you want more info about it PM me.

Below are a few pix from meets from last year.

Dino, are you a member of PCA? If so, would you recommend joining?

I agree, and it's usually not in me. I fully saw the reason for the arrest. As mentioned, I never nicked 10+ mph on PCH, but it was a race and I was a smartass to the cops.

If you get a decent cop, and you aren't traveling at an insane speed, you might have a chance of getting out of it, by being respectful and admitting you may have been exceeding the speed limit. However, a friend of mine who is an attorney was in court when he overheard one state trooper tell another copy, "If I pull someone over for speeding and they are in a Lexus, MB, or BMW,  they are getting a ticket because their car costs more than my base pay." But it may not work if you get "That state trooper."
