I wonder if the same is true with cars.
If you want to buy some old sports car, but you know that it will eventually get destroyed driving it every weekend...you might lean towards something more modern and heavy duty since it will be getting heavy use.
But if you already have 5 other sports cars...now maybe you only drive that thing 3 times a year. Your per mile cost has obviously shot way up...but you won't feel like you are destroying something fancy by over-using it.
