Total noob question that I hope is a teachable moment.

What is that car and why is it so sought after/desirable/fun?

It's a BMW 2002 (this one is a 1975 model). It's a small, light, rear-wheel-drive car with a fully independent suspension and a rev-happy little engine and manual transmission. It's super fun to drive but also pretty nicely built. This car basically put BMW on the map in the United States back in the late '60s-early '70s. It's the precursor of the 3 Series of today.

Ya gots to keep them Vaders straight. Thrift Vader is the guy who seems to know a lot about cars and has professional car experience. VaderDave is the guy who frequently breaks cars while working on them and has to take them to people like Thrift Vader to fix those mistakes.

At the very dangerous, thread destroying risk of asking, are you working on your car this weekend?

Yeah, how's that going for you? I've got a threshold for the projects I'll take on (which gets a little higher each year). Hopefully you're learning a lot and enjoying the work.
