Dave has a problem. He's very, very hungry and he wants to stop being so hungry. At first, he didn't really know what he wanted to eat, but now he has a strong hunch that it's a fat juicy steak he wants in his belleh. He knows he could simply go to his favorite restaurant and get what most likely would be a very good steak. He doesn't need to do anything other than bring himself and pay a nice premium to get what he needs. It's practically a surefire bet that his "problem" will be resolved if he goes this route. In fact, his pals urge him to because that's what they do when they're hungry.
Or, he thinks, he can cook a steak himself. He finds a lot of handy guides and tutorials online on how to do it. The steps are very straightforward and the difficulty level doesn't seem very high. Sure, execution may suffer because he's never done it before, but a lot of helpful advice and success stories from people who have done it themselves give him the confidence to do it. Plus, it won't cost him nearly as much for obvious reasons. And, this is his chance to finally work on his cooking skills -- something he's been wanting to work on for quite a while.
He realizes he's missing some basic cooking supplies that he'll need to cook said steak. He doesn't have a chef's knife or cutting board. Also doesn't have any salt and pepper, but he knows they sure would come in handy for other meals he may want to cook in the future. Sounds like the perfect opportunity to buy dat shit.
Dave places the order for his materials and tells his peeps of his plans to cook himself a steak. He expresses his hope that this may just fix his problem and that the cutting board and knife could come in handy for other meals in the future. Besides, he explains, if the steak he makes doesn't hit the spot, he'll cave and finally go to that his favorite restaurant.
This one guy, though, questions him and exasperates, "but Dave, that was such a waste of money! What the fuck? Why even order the cutting board and knife? I get that you want to become a better cook, but I just don't see how the cutting board and knife will help you do that. In fact, I think you wasted money on those things because, look at you, you're still hungry at this very right moment."
Dave says, "Well, no fucking shit, Einstein. I'm obviously still hungry because I haven't cooked and eaten my steak yet. I think
that's because I'm still waiting for the materials to arrive before I can do any of that. By the way, the analogy you provided makes no fucking sense."
ramuman, I'm sorry, but that was the stupidest comment I've ever read from you. You've generally been pretty good to me on the forums, but I'm going to call people out when I feel they deserve it.
It's pretty disappointing coming from you because you got swept up with the "hurr durr let's make fun of GF and criticize and question his every move because everyone else is doing it and I can finally feel part of the group" situation.
It's you and brokencycle. You're the two insecure guys in the group who only begin to rag on the one guy because everyone else does and that's the only time anyone will listen to or laugh at what you have to say. Lame. At least you deserve some credit because you contribute your thoughts that are relevant to the matter, regardless of how unhelpful they've been.
But brokencycles? The worst. Idiot just waltzes in and says stupid shit that makes no sense at all. What does my personal investing strategy have anything to do with this? His posts reek of feeble desperation, "hey guys, I can make fun of GF too! Please like my posts!"
Y'all can go ahead and fuck off now.

Let's be nice. He really does need to fix his car
Thank you. The last couple pages have been, quite frankly, ridiculous. What a pathetic display of mob mentality by people seeking to kick someone down for making an honest effort to fix an issue, just so they can jerk each other off and feel good about themselves. I truly don't believe anyone can objectively say that what I'm doing here is completely insane or stupid. God forbid someone tries to take a step-by-step approach to DIY'ing an issue with their car by seeking online resources.

Yes. Just a regular car jack to lift the car up so I can rest it on jack stands.
