How much should one expect to pay a mechanic to look over a car pre offer? How does one find such a mechanic if one isn't a local?

best place to look for the right mechanic is at the dealership for the brand of the car. if you show interest in being a customer, with one of their products? i don't see why a mechanic wouldn't be down for a little side money, or they might let you take it in to their workshop for inspection.

$1k down 3/31 or 4/1 for a reservation for a Model 3, which apparently will be announced 3/31. Car to be released 2017 (which sounds like late 2017 for a couple, and the majority in 2018 to me).

Depending on what it looks like and has going on, that might be my next car. Bought my Grand Cherokee in 2014, so I'll be ripe for a new vehicle in that time range.

Give that odyssey some of dat fender flare, and I think GF is in

2017 V90 - following in suit with the new XC90 is pretty handsome, I wonder if they'll give it some proper power.

Why does that Volvo look so incredibly long compared to other wagons.

It must be spacious af.
Because they are proper wagon and useful, it's probably in the 5+ meter range.

I can't remember the last time I saw a non-XC Volvo.

The sedan version is available with 320 (4x4) and 254hp petrol engines and 235 (4x4) and 190hp diesels.

Per Jalopnik, "It’s basically the new S90 in terms of specs, but with a bigger boot. Choose between a 400 horsepower all-wheel drive hybrid or a 316 HP gas version with optional all-wheel drive, you get the nicest seats in the business either way."

I actually test drove a V70 Polestar last weekend. It was pretty cool. Once they get that infotainment system up to speed with this XC90 and refreshed V90, it would be appealing. But it doesn't really feel like a 62k car on the inside. Driving-wise, though, it was great.

You can get the hybrid set up in the XC90 too. It's the 4 cylinder supercharged/turbocharged plus an electric assist. It was quite a bit more if I remember right from the test drive.

As far as luxury imports and real engines anymore...yeah, you're going to have to move into real baller territory these days. Even Porsche and the like is downsizing displacement.

That looks pretty sick!

And yeah, I wish they had a little nicer interior on the WRX's. I bet the STI would be a bit much and the insurance would be stupid on it...

I'm pretty cynical on hybrids. They were great for kicking off the electrification movement after the EV1. Now, it's generally an overcomplicated powertrain. I'm fine with forced induction engines - and the nicer ones are phenomenal these days.

I drive my 'automatic' turbocharged car nearly everyday in SoCal traffic and it's amazing how well the engine is in managing the turbos down to many levels of obsession (separate post if needed). I wouldn't dismiss them off hand.
