Lamborghini isn't a boutique automaker anymore. VW is calling the shots so what do you expect. This was expected and it should be no surprise to anyone.

And that's a good thing. You can't even see out of a countach

Current models.

Vantage:

DB9:

Rapide:

Vanquish:

Zagato:

Mind- Aston is working with far less resource than Lambo... and now with AMG making engines for them. Only a 5% stake now but Merc is pretty desperate to find partners to increase market share.

I doubt they need money, I don't see a problem with the MB engines, as they make great high hp engines, both N/A and super/turbocharged.

Aston? They've been teetering on the edge for ages. Ford was happy to jettison them. Since 2008 despite the downturn the luxe car market has grown while Aston's share shrunk. DAR bought 51% then ran out of cash in two years. Aston promptly cut 1/3 of its workforce.
Last year a single shareholder kicked in £150m to give them enough cash to try and develop a DB9 replacement.

They went to MB because they could not afford to develop their own engine any longer. That's not a swipe at MB.... maybe it's a smart move. But Aston is cash-poor.

Didn't tata own them at one point as well?

Like tg said when they tested the rapide, it's almost double what a panamera turbo etc. goes for, but as long as people are willing to pay its all good.

Apparently they are not so they should lower their prices, so they can get some units out the door.

Aston should take notes from Porsche and develop an SUV instead of stupid shit like this:

I'm not a fan of Aston and could not care less if they disappeared. That said, I wouldn't mind a 6-speed Vantage.

It's an EU norm thing, all manufactures need to average a certain CO2 g/km, so they had to do something like that.

They did a SUV prototype a while ago, just like bentley, they were equally ugly.

Have you guys heard of the Maybach Landaulet? Craziest backseat...

That's already been cancelled.

Crazy idea but I really think Aston Martin and McClaren should merge. Both British, heritage, legend... Aston could benefit from McLaren's manufacturing process.
What would Mclaren gain?

Regarding the maybach I it was a 3 car run or something crazy it came out in 09 or there about, birdman "had" one.

I don't know- justa random though on how two shoebox companies might be stronger through shared efficiencies.
