There's a time and place for everything, but what gives with all the catty, rude and otherwise inane replies to the most general of topics?

Part of being a gentleman is having manners, no?

Does having manners include calling people around you catty and inane?

Notice that I politely said that the replies were catty and inane, not the people behind them.

This is the usual rule for most internet discourse (If some civility was to be found anywhere though, one might think here would be the place though):

"This is the usual rule for most internet discourse", implying that this forum might be the exception.
