Hey guys,
I am going to start using cream on my new JLs, which are black museum. Would the best wax color for this be black, or neutral? I ask about neutral because the black museum is not a flat black and has some differeing hues of black... or is it best to just go with the black cream. I plan on buying the creams from the JL boutique. Thanks.

The folks at JL recommended black when I asked them awhile back.

Does anybody have a detailed picture of the black museum calf? I don't think I have ever seen it in person (maybe I have?) but in all online pictures it just looks solid black...

I talked to the people at JL nyc, they suggested black, but they said that the hues of the black will dissapear as well. They suggested neutral if I wanted to keep the tones... too many options for someone who has never done this type of stuff before! I just wanna keep them looking pretty for years to come!

Use neutral on all museum calf. A good friend of mine used the recommended brown on his chestnut museum shoes and completely covered up the antiqued look.

Should be in the shoe pictorial thread. Black museum calf has hints of grey, iirc.

How about dark oak Antique? Should neutral be used on that too, or just brown? This is complicated.

I use neutral cream or Saphir RÃ

novateur on all museum calf, even the black. Using coloured cream or polish will make the museum effect dissappear in time.

I think dark oak is just dark oak and not antique. Use dark brown for that, there is no museum effect on dark oak.

Antique is written on the box, what does that effect look like? Its not uniform in color?
