So, any advice on the pregnancy phase and first few months with twins? I know there are a few guys with twins on the forum; your sage advice would be appreciated.

Apologies for those that clicked this thread hoping to find something about the Olsens.

yeah, if your wife is breastfeeding it'd be best for her to store as much milk as she can produce and place it in labeled containers in the freezer.

You've probably just upped T4's interest in this thread. Have you got twins, Acidboy?

Make them fight to the death. You should only want the strongest child to bare your DNA!

Anyhow Eric, my only advice is 'get as much sleep as possible now, cos it's gonna be a long ass time before you get any rest again'

Eric,

let me get back to you, I need a lot of time to put stuff on paper.

one thing that you might not have thought about, if your wife is healthy and takes care of herself she is going to get huge - carrying twins to term means 2 full sized babies where one normally goes. that means this pregrancy could be twice as hard as the last one. my twins were both big and carried to full term, my wife was huge, it was almost comic. but she was misrable and sore all the time. keep that in mind. even if she was able to sleep last pregrancy, this one she might not be. anything that you can do to pamper her is going to help.

I'll get you some more info later - the mobility issue is going to be a big thing - you (more likly your wife) are going to have to carry two babies around for a year, and just before they are walking, they will be very big and heavy, and a little squirmy. you will want a good carridge, and possibly 2-3. we had a good side by side, a folding "unbrella" for two, a single "umbrella" (for when we carried one and rolled one in specific cases) and a snap and go for twins.

If you haven't seen it, check some of the good advice in a thread I started before the birth of our twins about 18 months ago

Congratulations

and good luck!

Some things spring to mind out of the mists:

- Get as much out of the way as possible beforehand (i.e. prepare nursery, get cribs, car seats, strollers, supplies, etc.)

- Body pillow for the queen bee

- Baby nurse $$$ permitting

- Set up a drugstore.com account for home delivery once the pipeline starts flowing

- Anything non-baby you were planning on doing/accomplishing, get it done

- Rest up & enjoy!

Our boys turn 7 next week!

Awesome. Their current skill set indicates that they will both have a career in rock climbing or acrobatic circus. Maybe I should sign them up for the Cirque du Soleil school.

Our boy+girl twins are 12. We are recovering nicely.

One thing I didn't expect is that baby twins outnumber 2 parents. They are 24/7, we weren't, and our parents are 2 thousand miles away. How they can be so small and still outnumber you is just a mystery of life with twins. It wasn't till about.. 2 years was it?... that this sense of being outnumbered fell away.

Another hint is to not be in a hurry to check out of the hospital after birth; its a great chance to get some sleep. Our twins didn't sleep 8 hour straight for a -long- time. I wish you wonderful night-through sleepers straight from birth.

Oh, and they are great fun. Good luck and enjoy the good life!
