The printed Peal & Co. label inside lists "48 Wigmore ST., London" as the shoemaker's address - a shop that was closed when the Peal & Co. name was sold to Brooks Brothers in 1965. (See http://www.wirksworth.org.uk/D25-PEAL.htm for a history of the company with further information.) I cannot say whether the shoes were made before that year, or if Brooks Brothers continued to use the Wigmore St. label for awhile after they purchased the name, in which case the shoes would have been manufactured by another English company -- most likely Edward Green. What is clear is that the shoes are quite old and rare -- and in remarkably good condition. Detailed photos on eBay.

There is no visible mark indicating the size, so I included photos showing the length and width measurements. My cobbler tested several insoles in them, and found that U.S. size 12 was the best fit, in the narrow to very narrow width. Please check the measurements against a pair of your own well-fitting shoes before bidding.
