I was way east of you...in the nations capital....but it is possible I ate there back in the early 90s. I played a couple shows at U of W when I was in a bad drunken celtic band and harveys was always popular when on tour.

Was it on campus? The name doesn't ring a bell but it was nearly 20 years ago and most of that time is a blur.

Nope, was "downtown" Windsor, very old building and bar and they often had Celtic stuff.

On Campus was the pub in the basement of the student center.

I think we only ever played on campus but I can imagine the Mahones and Great Big Sea, etc would have been regulars at a place like that. That reminds me...good time to revive that Canadian music thread...probably enough crapping up this thread anyways, eh.

I'm pretty sure that the popularity cupcakes just came about from that complex corner of the female brain that says 'pretty! cute! i wanna eat it!'

Indeed, I did. That complex corner of the female brain is called the orbitofrontal cortex, and it's interested in one thing, and one thing only: coitus.

Went to a decent local wine bar with my girlfriend. We sat outside, enjoying some Gruner Veltliner, cheese, and beer (Schneider Edel Weisse, which I love). We had some reading with us and were happy to relax quietly. The table next to us was occupied by a woman who was drinking alone while doing some writing, so the scene was tranquil. For about twenty minutes. Then the woman left, and a trio of morons sat down. The timbre of their voices and the cadence of their speech alone suggested imbecility. But then they ordered drinks. One of them tried to order a shot of raspberry Stoli; when the server pointed out that the bar didn't carry any liquor, she switched to beer. This bar has a good beer list, but this woman didn't find it to her liking. She wanted a Miller Lite (which the bar doesn't carry; the server had to suggest a suitable alternative).

Their ****** taste was matched by their ******, loud conversation. We had to gulp down our drinks and leave.

Did you laugh? I would have dropped them on the floor and walked out.

This happens in flyover country (and elsewhere I presume, though I've never seen it outside of the midwest). My friends and I went to buy some pint glasses at OneofThoseNationalRetailers™ in St. Louis for a party over Xmas a couple of years back and we all got carded. We were all over 25. I don't think think I've ever bought glassware in my time in Atlanta at a brick and mortar store, but I have a hunch it could happen here as well.

It doesn't. He got a moron. Don't know how you can control the purchase of a non-regulated item.
