I think groupon people are probably the lowest of the low. I know a place that stopped doing groupons because the FoH staff rebelled and threatened to walk out en masse if the owner did another groupon.

This vendor brought pies from a local pie vendor (I nearly said house, but feared Matt's wrath) for our enjoyment. Five different pies - the strawberry is gutted (only the crust remains) and the other four (chocolate, coconut, apple, and pecan) are pristine. I generally don't care but today I want pie, and I want some tea as well. But if I have the pie, the tea will taste awful. But I need the caffeine.

Don't ask about coffee, aka the Office Swill. Not even going there.

No pie for Thomas. I guess I could scoop some up in a cup and take it to-go on my way out of the office (no lids or straws, though) but that just kind of feels wrong.

Yes.

He and Neo are both models for how to overcome adversity.

Well, this story has a happy ending. Post-lunch I went casting about for pie, and to my surprise, tucked away in the back of the office fridge there was a strawberry cheesecake, completely untouched. Well, untouched before I got my paws on it. Now, it's very definitely touched. You might even say compromised.

I might not eat again until tomorrow.

I agree.

But this guy seems to come from SF. You haven't posted the feet over at EG, have you?

Possibly the wrong thread for this, but:

As a diversion from writing a godawful, never-ending chapter, I flipped on the TV to see what was on. I was scrolling through the guide and noticed that Food Network is airing Diners, Drive-Throughs, and Dumps--or whatever Guy Fieri's show is called--continuously from now until 3 a.m. God knows when they actually started this douche marathon.

WTF--could this possibly lead to a favorable ratings-to-production-cost ratio?
