Do you mean me? I think I can get it, but I haven't so far. And I don't think there'll be a difference. I was just suggesting alex that he might use campari & soda water instead of sanbitter given that he doesn't have access to sanbitter anymore.

I mostly made my peace with Korean food, certain dishes at least, and Korean people in general - but they go off and gnarf down shit like this and it's barbaric as fuck, and just totally precludes the idea of food for the delight of the senses, the way that most cuisines operate - don't even know what this is for, I can't figure stuff like this out.

My own personal connection with that LAT article though - I used to hit the clubs in Seoul hard when I was in my early 20's, when I was out of college and making my own money I had a British roommate and a random American guy in the same building and we only saw Seoul at nighttime, from 10-6 everyday, we thought we were cool but it turned out later that we were just young alcoholics. Maybe indeed cool for Seoul, but that isn't saying much. Totally unhealthy lifestyle. That, and I was obsessed with going to clubs and trying to pick out the one Japanese girl out of a club full of Koreans, because I knew I'd always get on better and my chances were better - so one day we did the usual route and we picked up on Japanese girls who had a clothing shop in Shibuya 109 - they invited us to go eat after the club with them, so we went along - turns out they had a group of Korean friends already and we were just tagging along in the end with a bunch of wild drugged up crazy Japanese kogals and some lame Korean dudes. Restaurant of choice was some jokbal place in Jangcheung-dong, down the hill from the Shilla and the Sofitel. We were fucking loaded by that point but the minute we realized what they had ordered, what they were eating, and what kind of restaurant we were in, we just said 'fuck this' and rode back home. Absolutely no arousal in watching some girl down a smoked Korean pig foot.

It is fucking terrible, I have no idea what Korean people are thinking sometimes with food. I just landed some tickets to Vietnam, just a 2.5 day trip to taste some real-deal pho down there like I said I was always going to do, but even there where there is minimal cooking equipment and stuff, I am not expecting to be totally grossed out like I am with Korean food.
