Tried eBay with little success, B&S is mostly a miss and JosBank is the only place that has ones that I'm looking for... Solid navy, gray, and charcoal suits with side vents.

Plenty of patterned suits but doesn't cover the essentials, especially in my popular size 42R. But I've been hard pressed to find good Solid colored suits discounted. C21, Syms aren't helpful. My max would be $800 and maybe $1000.

Mr.Ned and LS Menswear offer mtm/custom suits around that price and there was an ad for Astor & Black something like that but I'd like to find something OTR.

Can anyone help me out?

I'd also rather have new.

LS has OTR suits as well. I recall seeing Hickey Freeman and others.

I would wait for Brooks Brothers 50% off suit sale, get yourself some Golden Fleece suits, they are nicely made and will be around $800-900.

looks like it is time to start taking trips to your local Off 5ths, NMLCs, and filenes.

Where I live, I have access to 3 filenes(2 now since they closed the 18th street store), much worse than C21 which is a step up from Syms.
Haven't tried the NRacks or Off 5th but I have a feeling I won't be lucky there either since solids are usually the first to go especially in popular sizes. Most if not all discounted suits have some pattern and If I found any at these stores, they're Lauren's with center vents.

I'm looking for side vents and BB is limited in that department unless I go MTM.

It depends on how much you want to spend. I'm always out looking for solid suits in my size, with two criteria: side vents and forward-pleated trousers. Which means I'm usually looking at Polo on eBay. I've been seeing some for around $500-600, which is too much for me to consider.

I'm about willing to spend $800 on a suit. Last I spoke with Mr.Ned, I think he said that is the minimum for a suit plus tax of course. The fabric won't be top but it wouldn't be garbage either. Still I would imagine $800 could get me something pretty good at discount, even if it's not custom. I'd be willing to go for $1000 at most

The problem is the stuff you want is going to be rare on deep discount . The stuff that ends up on sale tends to be the stuff that doesn't sell.

Locally the only navy suit you'd see in the outlets will be the made for outlet stuff. Unless you get REALLY lucky and the day you walk in find something.

I think you'll either have to trade time for money. Go shopping more often. Get to know the sales staff and let them know what you want .

Or if you're in a rush you'll have to forget about solids in basic colours.
