I found colored shoe laces in Milan last year. The quality and colors are wonderful but they are not cheap. I think they cost 5.50 EUR/pr.

They do! I can personally attest to the quality of their knit ties.

I've yet to put them to the test but you might want to look into these They look good to me. I bought some lengths and they appear solid. Might be more suitable for shoes without a metal eyelet, however. And ...you might want to add an aglet--which you can do by dipping the end into clear nail polish.

You can also dip the shoelace ends in melted candle wax and shape accordingly as the wax cools. Just start a candle (a tea light candle works fine) and let the flame create a well of melted wax. Dip the end of the shoelace into the melted wax for a second or two. The lace will absorbe the wax. Then remove the lace end from the melted wax well and start shaping the end, rotating the lace between your fingers until it shapes itself to a narrow end. It takes inly minutes to do and will be remarkably strong enough to pass through the shoe eyelets. You'll eant to squeeze out most of the wax as you shape the ends. Once done and laces tied, they will stay good for ages. This is also a good method for touching up older lace ends.

If anyone knows where to buy colourful laces in Toronto, please post. There has to be somewhere and they will probably be inexpensive.

I can't remember the details but I think at one point another SF member was looking for something similar (bigbris, maybe?) and I think he found someone. If it was bigbris, it might be worth PMing him.

Strange, I don't recall looking for coloured laces. But then again, I did click on this thread...

I sourced some perfect waxed shoes lace, and basically can buy them in any color.

There are two versions, the round ones as shown on the photos, and flat ones (5mm or 0.2" wide). I can get some pairs for you at $1.5/pr, but minimum order for me is 5 pairs in each color.
At these prices, It may be time for another group buy? The quality for the last batch was very nice.

Strupai makes the best coloured laces I've encountered. I had a family friend bring me some but they ship to the US.
