These laces are an unusual red for regular oxblood shoes.

I have seen it before on the POW, but I am always blown away by the brogue holes full of polish - I think you would have to keep it glassy to pull it off, but I am kinda intrigued by it.

For those who were looking at the French site but were unable to order because they don't speak the language: here's another site from France that is available in English and has round waxed cotton laces from 45 to 180 cm length (not just the standard 75 cm). Also much cheaper than, say, Benjo's. Many colours and free delivery from as little as two pairs even to the US and many other countries:

Myself, I just put in an order for six pairs of 90 cm.

I got a few from The Knottery and I'm really happy with them. They're great for adding a nice touch to casual shoes!

The House of Laces has a great selection of brightly colored, 100% cotton shoelaces, all available in a range of styles such as wide, flat, thin, round or cord. Have a look at the site on http://www.thehouseoflaces.com/

Payless shoes has some low end colored laces. Look near the cashier counter for a rack with the laces. Most I saw there was $2.50 a pair. True they are not up to SF standards, but are still an option for a quick fix.

Sometimes you can find things in the most unlikely of places. I have an artsy friend who once stupidly tried licorice as shoe laces on a pair of his boots as some form of experiement only his dog ate the licorice. Then he switched to multi-coloured telephone wire. I personally wouldn't but it is interesting how people use different strategies to fulfill their needs and desires. I purchased a few pair of laces from Payless to give them a try. True, they are not quality but they are fine for temporary fun, especially on casual shoes.
