I have 2 pair of Brando Lace boots and the quality was horrible. A few wears and there were seems blowing and soles splitting. In addition, the eylets were not finished well so they tore through the laces.

I saw black ones in person and they felt pretty cheap. They were on clearance for like $100 and I still didn't think they were a very good deal.

I had a pair in the brown for like a day, sent them back... they look cool but are cheap as hell unfortunately.

Unfortunate indeed...they do look pretty cool, I was thinking of copping a pair but if the quality is as bad as indicated here I'll pass.

Any ideas on a similar boot of better quality?

Bump for this since I am also curious. Another good-looking Frye boot that is out of stock (probably discontinued) is the Owen Short Lace:

But even if they weren't seemingly discontinued, would be worried about quality. What are boots that have a similar look, but are of better quality?

Don't buy Frye. They are built poorly with cheap materials. I will say they do look good for the first month or two though.
