Vass makes great shoes. I have three pairs from them, the oldest one will soon be 7 years. They seem to be harder wearing than any of my English shoes, although I have never had JL, EG or C&J. The best shoes I have ever had are by far my J. M. Weston chasse´s. They are incredibly sturdy (and clunky) and the leather soles, from their own tannery seem much harder wearing than the Rendenbachs Vass uses.
Another plus with the Westons: they have got much better breathability than all other shoes I have owned.
