What Happens On Facebook Stays On Facebook...

There's this guy at work who's one of my Facebook "friends" and every time I update my profile it's the first thing he mentions when he sees me at work. I think his behavior is creepy. What happens on Facebook stays on Facebook, no?

No chance.

limit his access

what happens on a public social networking site, stays on a public social networking site? surely you see the disagreement here.

Tell him, on Facebook, to stop creeping you out. Problem solved.

Don't put shit on the internet you're not prepared to talk about. That'll be the motto we teach our grandkids someday.

Technically, yes. But that's not how the real world works. People are obnoxious and talk. YOu need to be smart about who you allow as a facebook "friend" for this very reason. One major reason I do not have any co-workers as facebook friends. People in my organizaton, yes, but not co-workers.

Yes, but let's not be naive about who shows what to whom. If it's on your profile, someone (if not lots of people) will be seeing it, regardless of whether or not they're your FB friends, and regardless of whether or not you've given them permission to view the content. Your FB friends will show their RL friends your profile in person, and so forth.

If you don't think the photo of last night's drunken shenanigans that you shared with your office FB friends will make the rounds amongst everyone in the office who knows you, you're sadly mistaken.

Once again: if you put it on the internet, someone you don't want to see it is damn well gonna see it. No two ways about that. The moral of the story is to be careful with what you put there in the first place, regardless of intended audience and regardless of restrictions placed on it.

For the record, I'm well aware that anything I post on there will be common knowledge amongst the hoi polloi. I don't care about that. I'll never post anything that I don't want on people to know about. My point was that does this guy really need to mention it every day? Every fucking day? He needs to send his subscription in for a life. He's going to get the Facebook axe soon. That's how I roll.

If the guy never shuts up about it, that's his problem. He's a doof. Yes, I use the word "doof" almost scientifically. It's a definite taxonomy of human being. You know the type. The type that never shuts up about your Facebook page, obviously. Also the type who raves about "the game" last night, while remaining suspiciously vague about his favorite moments or details. This is the guy who posts status updates on Facebook about how much he hates Mondays, loves Fridays, and is unambiguously enthusiastic about the perpetually forthcoming weekend. He contributes nothing of substance to a conversation or social gathering, other than providing a cheesy, "all riiight!" kind of vibe.

we bust kids who have stupid shit on their facebook pages all the time...cause other kids bring em to the admin's attention and then they get disciplined accordingly (talk shit about other students/teachers)...so I guess no, it doesn't.

Well that's my point. Be careful who you put as a friend. Be careful what you have on your profile. IF 200 of your friends can see it, it's not really private is it?

Tck13 - You should simply tell this guy to quit being a tool.

use the privacy control and block him from your status updates

Start going through his pictures and asking him about all the ones he looks really bad in.

Tell him that those ones in particular really capture his essence
