I have set up a league with the name SF MC FIFA WC FB 2010 SA Pool

You should click on "join a group"
The group ID# is 8618
When asked for a password, please type in: outback miners

You need to have a yahoo login for this.
When starting to play you are asked to create a set of predictions.
Under Set of Predictions Name, chose your SF name, not your yahoo login. We need to recognise each other by name.

End of edit

I am not sure if a thread like this is allowed here. If not, please move it to an appropriate place and accept my apologies.

I'm in the Yahoo! one for the PL but they don't seem to have one up as yet for the World Cup.

Thanks both.

As said before, I know a Dutch one that I have used a few times. I just made the subleague Styleforum Pool as a test. Could someone please try and register to see if the Google-Translated site is clear enough to understand the registration and the pool itself? (You don't have to enter your real name (use your SF nick), address et cetera; just use an email address that works.) And when you're registered, could you try and find the subleague styleforum-pool and ask permission to join? Thanks.

Here's the link:

(Click Register on the left.)

If this is too complicated we'll just pick another one.

I'll join! What is it? How does it work?

Do you guess the winner/runner-up, or is it all groups? Goals scored?

Good!

Sloppy, automatic translation of the rules:

General rules

We try to show the results as soon as possible after the game
to calculate or otherwise looking for 12 hours on the next
business day.
If two or more players have the same number of points, then
looks at the number just right predicted results. If it is still
equal, the winner is assigned by lot.

Predictions

You can enter or change predictions until 1 minute before
the match.
You must enter the final positions, top scorer and champion
before the tournament begins.
Also yellow / red cards and goals must be completed
before the tournament begins.

League points / group games

The good prediction of the exact score: 200 points
The good prediction of a draw: 100 points
Predicting the correct winner: 75 points
Predicting the number of goals of a team: 20 points
Note: the 8th, quarter, semi and final will be given to the state
after 90 min + extensions. Goals from renewals count towards
the total number of goals in the tournament, penalty shoot-outs,
however.

Other items
Correct number of goals tournament: 500 points
For the exact prediction you get 500 points. For each
goal that you are wrong, there is always 25% of the remaining
points. Until a goal is counted each goal that falls within the
90 minutes + possible extensions
Exact number of yellow cards tournament: 500 points
For the exact prediction you get 500 points. For each card that
you are wrong, there is always 25% of the remaining points.
If a second yellow card given to a player and thus a red counts
together as 2x yellow (red and 1 time)
Correct number of red cards tournament: 500 points
For the exact prediction you get 500 points. For each card that
you are wrong, there is always 50% of the remaining points.
Right Champion: 300 points
Correct top scorer: 500 points
Correct team in the end ranking: 50 points

Example 1
Player A predicts that the outcome between Team A against
Team B will be 2-0 and player B predicts a final score 2-1
and the final is now 2-0.

A player earns 200 points for correctly predicting the outcome
completely.
Player B earns 75 points for correctly predicting the winner and
another 20 points for the correct number of goals of Team A.
That amounts to a total of 95 points for Player B.

Example 2
Player A predicts that the outcome between Team A against
Team B will be 2-1, Player B and Player C predicts a 1-1
and 2-2. The eventual final score is 2-2 now.

Player A earns 20 points for correctly predicting the number
of goals for Team A.
Player B earns 100 points for predicting the draw.
Player C gets the full 200 points.

Is this workable?

If you like the rules, I can make a short English manual for the registering part. Or just ask me what's unclear. Or suggest a less complicated procedure... Let me know what you think.

Just fill it out and wait for the points.

I think the only (small) hurdle is the registration. But again: if it's too complicated to use this pool or if people don't like this system, I'm open to suggestions.
