Hello all,

Has anyone stayed at the Elysian in Chicago? I was thinking my fiance, by then wife, and I should stay there before we leave on our Honeymoon.

Have not stayed in the hotel, but my friend works in the kitchen. She says it is pretty legit.

I don't know anything about the place, how's the service? I know you couldn't go wrong at the Peninsula, it's relatively world class but certainly not contemporary.

I just noticed that Gilt Groupe's sister site for travel, Jetsetter.com, is having a sale on rooms at the Elysian. I had not heard of the hotel before, but it looks pretty damned nice.

Yeah it's pretty sick. No tip policy lead to union problems (they were protesting outside when it first opened). Never seen the rooms, but the outlets are very impressive, particularly the fine dining one. Jetsetter is doing a sale on it. Gotta say, 250/night there is a pretty damn good deal.

It just opened last summer, late summer. August sometime, IIRC.

What prompted me to ask was the sale on jetsetter. I went ahead and booked a room. Some of the reviews on tripadvisore compare it favorably to the Peninsula, Trump, etc. So, we'll see.
