As there seem to be lots of traders on here, I am interested to hear your thoughts on high frequency trading, such as whether it is a growing trend or one you see coming to an end. I know there has been some pressure in Congress, etc, but I really know very little about the industry views. I am not in trading, nor do I plan on going into the field, but I met someone today who has a high frequency trading operation which they are looking to expand. I thought I would solicit some information here while doing a bit of research on my own.
