Vacouver restaurant recommendation.

I'm going to be in Vancouver with my inlaws in a couple of weeks. It's going to be their anniversary while were out there. Wanted to know a good seafood restaurant to take them too.

Any suggestions?

Imperial Seafood has great dim sum. Blue Water Cafe has excellent EXCELLENT seafood, the jelleyfish salad was awesome. This place at the bottom of the Vancouver Sun's building, can't remember the name of it but it was very good too.

I'd say IS for dim sum lunch (as I said in another threak, ask for something "different, garlicy, and spicy". I got this ball, can't remember what it was but it was probably the best thing I've ever had to eat), Blue Water Cafe for dinner and cocktails. Definitely the cocktails.

There are also a number of exceptional sushi restaurants. There was one in downtown that was this all you can eat Korean BBQ and sushi place with really good toro on the menu.

But the best seafood from Vancouver was what I caught fishing, although that doesn't help you at all.

There are some very nice restaurants in Vancouver.

I don't think you'll do better for local seafood than "C": http://www.crestaurant.com/

Another good place popular with locals is "West": http://www.westrestaurant.com/

The best sushi in Vancouver (if not a close contender for all North America) is "Tojo's": http://www.tojos.com/Splash.html

Superb nouvelle Indian at "Vij's": http://www.vijs.ca/index_in.htm

"Lumiere" has been high on the list of best in Vancouver for a long time and is now affiliated with Boulud who has a DB Moderne next door: http://www.lumiere.ca/

"Bishop's" also in Kitsilano is a treasure: http://www.bishopsonline.com/

I've eaten at all of these quite a few times, so ask away on details...

Rodney's Oyster House in Yaletown if you want a more laid back seafood bar. I believe they have one in Toronto too so you should be familiar with them.

What's your budget? I would go to Blue Water Cafe or Sandbar, top notch ambience at both.

Some good recommendations so far, but I would definitely check out Chambar too. Also, their sister restaurant Cafe Medina is probably the best breakfast in town.

I don't really like most of the restaurants in Yaletown, but if i had to pick one I would probably go with Brix. The courtyard is awesome on a summer night.

Vancouver actually has a lot of great restaurants so you'll probably want to narrow it down by cuisine, price range, or neighborhood or something.

I suggest Lift in Coal Harbour. Can't beat the view, and I have never been disappointed when I've been there.

It's worth noting that at Tojo's you want to stick with the omakase for as much as you can afford. For Vij's it worth noting that they don't take reservations - you'll be kept amused while you wait either in line or at the bar by a parade of drinks and small bites and Vikram is always an affable host.

One more quick question. Where is a good place for brunch in vancouver. So far my wife has made reservations at bearfoot bistro, C restaurant and vijs or tojos (wife hasn't decided) and afternoon tea at the fairmont.
