The new Ms. ld111134 and I will be traveling there in early September. Any suggestions?

The Pera Palace reopens in June after a much-needed refurbishment. I would jump at the chance to stay there as even before the refurb just walking into the place was a fantastic experience. The place reeked of old-world charm and history (Agatha Christie apparently wrote her most famous novel there). Apparently the Istanbul Kempinski is also well worth a visit, even if just for a coffee next to the river

You must go to Ciya for dinner. See this week's New Yorker for a whole article on the chef.

Lou,

I'll get back to you with a bunch of stuff on Istanbul eating.

as to hotels, I just stay at the hilton. its nicly located and has a great view. I was in the 4 seasons a few months ago for a dinner party and the view was even better.

there is a W with a very good location, but I don't think that it will have a good view

Think there is a new Conrad Hilton and a JW Marriott there. A great restaurant is "Mia Mensas,"---right on the river looking over to the Asia side and a really pretty setting. Great food too. Think there are several nice places nearby, as it's in one of the more upscale areas. Not too fancy. Casual is fine.
