Random Question/Car Discussion Thread

Since we have so much car talk in here, mid life crisis cars, quarter life crisis cars, etc... why not just have the random question thread.... My first thought of the matter - what does everyone think of the Acura RSX TYPE S... My BMW 3 series lease is up at the beginning of june, and I am thinking of purchasing in cash a 2005 or 2006 RSX Type S with under 30K miles... seems you can get them for ~ 14Kish... does this seem like a good idea to anyone? Preferably I need to find one that wasn't owned by a kid who destroyed it by redlining non stop... Really every new car is just not doing it for me, my budget is about 25K - I prefer minimal cost of repairs (i.e. german cars are out of the picture) and a car that will last long (acuras/hondas - built to last) So what is everyone's thoughts on the RSX TYPE S? Also keep in mind I do not want a RWD vehicle - as it snows a lot here in new jersey and I need to commute 30 miles to work everyday. Other idea was possibly buying a brand new 2010 mazda3 s sport

I have not ever driven an RSX Type S but I owned a 2005 RSX Premium for about a year. I really, really didn't like the car at all. Everything about it just seemed far too pedestrian...why spend the extra money to buy a fancy Civic? The interior felt cheap to me, and the car was underpowered and really didn't handle that well, IMO (which I am sure that both things would be better in a Type S). Having said that, it had great steering feel for a FWD car, the seats were great, had a pretty slick 5-speed manual, and it was small and easy to park. I know you said that you don't want RWD, but I would encourage you to rethink that decision, as a RWD car with winter tires and traction control is really not bad in the winter, hell I drive one in Calgary! I would suggest taking a look at the 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe...I say 2011 because they'll be upgrading the interior compared to the 2010s. I bought my 3.8 version last August and drove it all winter with no issues, and it's been a fantastic and fun car, far more fun than I had with the Acura.

Im assuming your looking for a coupe? Personally my cousin had that car in question and he ended up selling it because it was underpowered and it did not handle very well. Although, im not as knowledgable about those types of cars, i know that a friend of mine has a FWd scion tc, and i must say i was suprised with its power and its rather responsive handling. Also, you should concider the hyundai tiburon gt, it also FWD and has a decent power plant behind it.
