Vince Delmonte's No Nonsense Workout

Hey guys, I just recently got my hands on this guy Vince Delmonte's no-nonsense workout plan. It was created for skinny guys like myself to add muscle. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything good about it or whether it's just another scam. I thought I'd ask people on this forum before I actually get deeper into it.

After reading your post, I went looking for the book and "found" myself a copy. After reading about 60% of it and skimming the rest I have to say it's pretty thorough. Although all of his "secrets" are commonly known by fitness experts he does do a good job of explaining them in ways that someone with very little experience can understand. I don't agree with him on his high rep training philosophy (low reps and more sets to minimize CNS fatigue is my philosophy) but I do agree with him on nutrition and regulating carb intake to take advantage of specific anabolic windows. Overall, if you don't have the time or inclination to research the information he presents the book offers a good crash course. But at $77 I would rather do the research myself.

Either of you want to share it?

i found it on some website, don't recall where but I'm sure if you google or look through some torrent sites you'll find it.

I am just a newbie at researching body building and the problem I've found is that I hear/read so many different things about weight training, it is hard to know what to follow.

in a nutshell:

Find yourself a 5x5 program. Starting Strength is popular. I like Bill Starr's 5x5 program. Doesn't really matter, as long as it is based around squats, deadlifts, benchpress, pullups, rows, military press.

Eat lots. Protein is good, so lots of meat and eggs. Milk is a nice easy way to increase your calories, especially if you drink full cream. Tuna is good cos of high protein and good fats. Veggies are important because of the micronutrients, and they keep you regular.

Measure your progress in terms of weight lifted. No need for measurements etc. You'll see the results in the mirror.

Wendler's vs Stronglifts is not a contest. Beginner program vs Intermediate.

Strong Lifts: Deadlift 1x5 Not even sure what to say...

Rippetoe isn't as big on deads as, say, Pavel Tsatsouline (who has a program based on deads + a press, 5 times a week, 2 sets of each).

Uh, ya, that isn't a Stronglift feature. One set of 5 deadlifts seems to be a feature of most Starting Strength programs. I could be really off on this, but a program which contains low bar squats can more easily drop some of the deadlift volume than a high bar program. Low bar and deadlift has more overlap and SS people tend to low bar.

I do perform more deadlifts for my own reasons, right or wrong. I front squat / high bar, and I experienced a shoulder injury while deadlifting a couple months ago. I have decided that due to morphology I am a good deadlifter, but I exceeded the capacity of my upper body. I am doing more volume at lighter weight hoping to allow my shoulders to catch up to my legs. I've been doing 2, 3, 5, 3, 2 reps because it feels good. It feels like a self contained warm up, all at working weight.

Wow I'm such a noob that I don't recognize any of this workout jargon.

I was recommended Vince Delmonte's workout plan from a cousin who is a Doctor. I just finished reading his book and realized that I only want to bulk up a little bit (perhaps 10-15lbs). I'm 5'5 and weigh 125 right now and have a small pot belly that I gained in the last 4 months of vacation. I think if I bulked up, it wouldn't look that good. I think since I'm a short a lean and cut look would suit me better. But after 4 months of being a lazy bum, it is really hard to get off your ass and start working out.

Oh and here's another problem. I just started looking for a job, so I haven't joined any gyms because it doesn't make sense to sign up for a yearly contract if I have to relocate. So I'm just stuck at home with a treadmill, dumbells (and will be getting a bench and pull up bar in a few days). My exercise options are limited
