I was even shocked to hear his age honestly. I know he's been making music since the late-60's, but he seemed to exist out of time. An ever present creative force.

First song I learned when I picked up the guitar again was Space Oddity. That song was put out in 1969 and still sounds current.

it must be draining to show your own species how to be cooler for decades and decades and it just can't catch up

To this day my feet start tapping when I hear Rebel Rebel.

It's said that "Rebel, Rebel" inspired Bruce Jenner on his journey.

RIP DB, you were the source of much inspiration.

Wow, what a loss. I could listen to "Ashes to Ashes" and "Fame" on repeat.

I have to agree with Nil on his sheer presence as a creative force. Few people can claim that. David Byrne is another who comes to mind.

So . . .
Back in the mid 'nineties I was faced with bit of a conundrum. My philosophy midterm was the next day but I'd just heard David Bowie was playing with Nine Inch Nails that very night.
What was a young scholar to do?
Naturally I hitched a ride downtown picked up a scalped ticket, scored some LSD and proceeded to pretty much rock out with my cock out all night long.

I vaguely sorta knew one of his guitarists many years ago. I'd say more but...(no homo, in fact, hetro).

RIP. This one affects my wife more than David Bowie's passing.
