After I wear boat shoes for a whole day, without socks, I get a lot of itching under the tongue of the shoe.

Does this happen to anyone else? Should I try a different brand, or do I have some kind of allergy?

Athlete's foot? Maybe sprinkling a little foot powder in your shoes would help?

Some people have allergies to one of the chemicals used to tan leather--chromium salts. Shoes are often lined with vegetable tanned leathers or with leathers that are "finished." And so this problem never surfaces. But I am guessing your boat shoes are not lined. I don't know that this is your problem, but it is worth looking at. If you develop a rash, it might very well be a chrome allergy. If it is, it may get worse and spread to any part of your foot that is in contact with chrome tanned leather...socks or not.

I've had an issue that sounds like this, I have a spray called odor destroyers, which keeps my feet from smelling and prevents the itch look for it in any cvs/walgreens/rite aid it works quite well for me
