How do you get to be a senior member?

I see Senior Members on here who basically just joined and haven't posted squat. The FAQ is silent on this matter as far as I can tell. Do you just have to be old? If so, I should qualify, even though my posts are infrequent and hopelessly gauche.
A more pertinent question might be, do any benefits accrue to Senior Membership? They certainly don't accrue to old age...

1) Post a lot.
2) Hang around for a few months.
3) Both.
4) No benefits necessarily.

No benefit accrues, merely the count figure rises and make future newcomers like you are now wonder.
