Nike Outlet

Is the merchandise sold at Nike Outlets the same as sold in their retail stores (e.g. overstocks, returns, etc.?) Or is it specifically made for the outlets? I ask this because I've bought nearly all of my exercise gear at Nike Outlets. Great selection and great prices. However, I was walking through Nordstrom and came across their Nike selection. There was a fleece jacket identical to one I'd picked it up in the outlet in style, color, and line "Thermofleece," but the Nordstrom version was about double the thickness, double the weight, and had more intricate details (a quilted lining, etc.). On sale, this piece was the same price as the price I paid at the outlet. I don't care that much about exercise clothes, but I don't like paying the same price for a superior product and it's cheaper derivative. EDIT: After perusing the "Last Chance" section of their website, I've found nearly everything I've bought at the outlet, for the same price, and they appear (including the jacket -- picture on Last Chance section is 1:1 with product at Nordstrom) to all be slightly different. Taking the jacket as an example, odds are they are better quality. Win some, lose some.

what i don't get is those two for $20 shirts at the nike outlets. I've fit in different sizes from small (which was still loose) to large (which was fitting).

nike outlet stuff is ok, the adidas outlet stuff (the running attire) is the same as the flagship store though. I recently bought a $35 shirt and $35 shorts at the adidas flagship in soho, and found the same shirt and shorts for $20.

No, it's not the same garbage. It's higher quality garbage.

I think the majority of outlet apparel these days is designed for the outlet. At Nike the shoes look like the mainline product but the prices are never that great.

nike is a shitty company that typically makes shitty products anyhow

I have to agree with Nike sucking --- as much as I love the thought of buying some nike shoes they always continually disappoint me.

Who makes better basic gear like running shorts and shirts? Their stuff has always performed adequately to the task for me.

Nike stuff fits OK if you're skinny, but if you have some meat on your bones try under armour stuff.

I just don't understand what makes one maker of synthetic workout wear worse than any other, and how Nike is so bad as to be "shit" and "shitty" compared to the seemingly identical competition.

Nike does not make shitty products. A lot of people hate Nike for their labor practices, and that is fine. Personally, I'm not a fan of their running shoes but I think they make some great athletic clothing. Their Dri-Fit clothing especially is very nice.

I have some Nike running gears and they're decidedly less refined than their New Balance counterparts. Granted they're made from the same material (well, broadly speaking), but the New Balance stuff just feels better against the skin. Now, I only go for the Nike stuff if all of my New Balance stuff is in the wash bin.

You may be on to something. I use Dri-fit t-shirts as cum rags. My friend suggested I try Under Armour socks. They are much nicer against the skin. The last time I nutted all over a girl I used a New Balance t-shirt for the complementary clean up; she did remark how soft it was.

There is a Nike Outlet in town where I live. I think they at least sell a mix of outlet only + retail stuff. I've seen some items which were identical to the retail stores. Price was the same too, so you were not saving any money.

I agree. I really like their Dri-Fit Pro Core shirts. I found them to be more comfortable than the Under Armour shirts I've tried...material was less itchy and the seams were flat. I wear them all the time for running and hiking and they have held up very well so far.

same here. The Air Span was the last of their shoes that I wore before discovering Mizuno and adidas, but their shirts and shorts don't suck. fwiw, New Balance makes solid equipment, but it's too heavy for our weather - I bought my last pair of NB's when I had to stop in mid-run to wring my socks out.

I think its this way with all outlets nowadays. The only luck you'll have is by going to the one or two racks of clearance. That's where I find any gems. I was in nike outlet over xmas and got two 3 layer goretex acg jackets for 30 bucks a piece. right on par quality wise with arcteryx or whatever. Awesome jackets for 1/20th the price of others. but in the same store there were racks and racks of shitty outlet quality crap.
