For those of you that like to eat pho is there a certain style of beer that goes best with pho? Just looking to get some variations on pairing the two. Any suggestions are welcomed.

light lager would be my choice.

I would go with something that has a fair bit of malts in it, to offset the saltiness and spice of the pho. Maybe a brown ale or a tripel...also more interesting choices than a lager.

The only proper drink to enjoy with pho is thai iced tea.

Seriously -- try Vientamese 'Export 33.' I swear it has a bit of Kaffir Lime in the aftertaste. Wonderful with pho or, really, most anything Vietnamese. ~ H

I tried brown ale against pho once...

Agree that a light lager works pretty well... and unfiltered wheat with lemon seemed OK too.

I like to order Vietnamese iced coffee with pho. You get to have a race with the filter to see whether you will finish the food before the coffee finishes brewing.

+1 on this, never tried Thai Iced Tea but regularly get Viet Iced Coffee w/ Condensed Milk

Tiger beer gets my vote. Easier to find than "33"

Vietamese iced coffee. I've never had a beer with pho. You need something really bold to stand up to the pho broth, maybe like a stout.

There are several Hmong noodle shops near my office and the natives are almost always having a beer with a bowl.
