I stayed once at the Pan Pacific and it was awesome. Really, really nice place. But I was staying on an executive floor, so I had special amenities (private check-in, happy hours, food, etc) so my experience might not have been typical. I tried to check in on the ground floor, but when I approached the desk, the beautiful girl there looked horrified and immediately summoned an even more beautiful girl to take me in a private panoramic elevator to the executive floor, where a yet more beatiful girl welcomed me by name and with a fresh-squeezed, ice cold tropical fruit drink, then escorted me to my room. Orientals are always amazing. Haven't been to the one in Singapore but in Bangkok and Hong Kong they are really, really great. Service is oustanding. Still, though I have no experience in the hotel, I think I would go to the Raffles if given the choices listed, just because it's THE classic Singapore hotel. Go, enjoy, have a drink at the Long Bar.

I've stayed at the pan pacific, the restraunt on the top floor is fantastic. I've been in the bar at raffles, also nice. I like the hilton and the marriott, I think that the locations are slightly better.

I've also stayed in the Pan Pacific there and I agree with the review above. However the prices in the lobby bar are frankly breathtaking. The Intercontinental is good in Singapore, but I'd also vote for the Oriental.

I have not personally stayed at any of these, but several coworkers who go to Singapore often usually stay at the Mandarin.

I live in Singapore (with my parents as expats) and these hotels are all near each other anyway, so location shouldn't be a problem. I've been to Mandarin Oriental and Pan Pacific and I prefer Mandarin, it seems a more classy place and less crowded. The steak restaurant there (Morton's) is nice as well but maybe a bit pricey depending on your budget. The thing I don't like about Pan Pacific is that it's directly connected to a mall (Marina Square) so people sometimes tend to just go in from the mall making the hotel more crowded and less exclusive. Also compared to Mandarin, it's an old hotel.

Malls are convenient and good, morton's steak house is horrible (in my opinion).

Definitely recommending Raffles! For its class and style.

Pan Pac and Mandarin Oriental are located in the same area call Marina Square. The malls and restaurants are just below if not beside these hotels. In this area, there are also Conrad and Ritz Carlton, both high-end.

Raffles Hotel is just 5 mins walking distance from the above area. There is also malls nearby where you can shop and also some heritage buildings to visit. Along this area, you can check out Fullerton Hotel too.

Raffles has an interesting history. Dining there offers a nice ambience.

Anyone have good experience with the Tanglin Club or the American Club? Or are the hotels just so good that it's pointless to save a few nickels?

the mandarin was really nice but i did prefer the ritz carlton. maybe it was the bathroom layout and those hexagon windows over looking the bay but all the above recommendations should be quite solid nonetheless.

they both have great locations. I have been a guest at them, but not spent the night. I don't stay at the top luxury hotels, usually at the Marriott or the hilton. what, exactly, do you want to know?
