Oh their profit margin on this small batch has to be around 400% at least?

I would rather buy 2 pairs of Aldens, maybe even a pair of Church's and Aldens, or even Trickers and Aldens, or even-even Church's and trickers. yes getting dirty!

Yeah the idea of cordovan sneakers just seems really shitty to me. Isn't the whole point of cordovan the pantina it develops over time? Seems like sneaker soles would wear out way before then.

Yeah but you could have a recraftable sneaker.

The idea isn't bad. The execution just isn't there yet.

I think RO/CCP/a1923 are resole-able sneakers but the buttero ones above are ugly.

Those soles are gonna go way before those uppers do, I've ground CPs down in 2-3 years of casual wear. Replacing the soles is nowhere as easy slapping another layer of rubber on the bottom, either. Also those are really ugly - slapping GENUINE HORWEEN SHELL CORDOVAN onto something and calling it quits rarely results in good design.

Has anyone ever successfully had a sole replaced on a sneaker?

I've been told a flat out "no" by most cobblers, a shame because I tossed Margiela GATs and some CPs that had decent uppers but had the soles worn through. There's a couple exceptions, the crepe sole on RO sneakers or functional shoes like Dansko, but for most fashion brands it isn't going to happen. Possibly if you had an extra sole lying around and a decent cobbler, but best to think of sneakers as disposable

I'm surprised they can't work their magic and slap on a vibrams sole.

Ive had a pair of Gats for 2 1/2 years worn a guaranteed 5 times a week that show no harsh wear to the sole, the uppers look like complete shit though but there comfortable as all hell.

=( I have weird pronation so after 2 years the outer side of the sole is completely worn through. I'll bring it to a cobbler to see if anything can be done but I'm not optimistic.

I think 2 years of wear is plenty enough abuse for sneakers to agree with letting them go.

Depends imho. If they're gym or clubbing shoes then fine, but if they're dress/fashion sneaks then why let them die early if the uppers are fine?

realistically the only thing you can do that's functional is use a whole coat of shoe goo, and double coat where necessary

I don't know much about cobbling but since those sneakers appear to be stitched on couldn't they be resoled in a manner similar to goodyear welted shoes?
