^I've never gotten anything weird smelling from Japan either. Kind-u specifically, from whom I buy from rather frequently, or any seller from Y!JP etc

Yeah, I've wandered inside the stores in Tokyo and Kyoto before and didn't notice any smell. Think you're okay from Kind at least.

I don't know if I've gotten anything from y! that hasn't smelled.  I have one coat that the cleaning chemical must have reacted with because it still smells after a month. That and the finish is peeling off...

That's the helmut jacket, right? No fun at all. But at least the rest of you had good experiences. The reason for my question is actually kinda sad. I bought a jacket from kind-u maybe a month ago, and I've worn it out a handful of times since then. But my sense of smell is terribad. Like, I can smell some things, but most smells that aren't super strong will slip by undetected. So naturally I've been a bit paranoid about whether I've been exposing everyone around me to some chemical odor or something. Maybe I'll dry-clean it just in case, but you guys' posts have been pretty reassuring

Ha, yeah...  The like 10 other things have all aired out alright though.

Do you have a steamer? That might get take care of any residual residues without throwing more chemicals at that poor jacket.

ooh good call. i'll look into buying one

You could use fabreeze? I had a weird odor on my tim coppens coat from seller on eBay I think it probably came from the bag it was covered by.

If you have some place outside to hang stuff just let it air out for a day or two and that's enough to get rid of most smells.
