Seriously . . . He's only the grandfather of the Spaghetti Western and Magnificent-Freaking-Seven.

No Kurosawa, no Ingmar Bergman.

Ultimate FAIL.

Of course, if anyone recommends that crapfest known as Battle Royale, their opinion isn't worth jack in the first place.

+1 on Oldboy -1 on Diving Bell

I don't know that Diving Bell should be considered a "foreign film" anyway...

It's an OK list but picking 2046 for Wong Kar Wai is puzzling.

I thought 2046 was one of his best films. Chungking Express was good too, but it is really supported by the second vignette, not the first. And In the Mood for Love, while good, is less of a guy flick than 2046.

Chungking Express > Happy Together > In the Mood for Love > Fallen Angels > As Tears Go By > 2046 > others

"guy flick"... really? Like... a movie for guys who don't wear cologne?

Yep, there is more overt sexual appeal in 2046 than in In the Mood. In the Mood is generally considered his best (or top 2) but for most average guys it moves too slowly and everything is implied, subtle. 2046 is more immediate and obvious.

I haven't seen Happy Together so I can't speak to if it would be above 2046 in terms of his "guy movies".
