I kindly suggest you try a forum with a higher percentage of folks (or at least a few kind souls) who know what they are talking about.
Check out John Stone Fitness, the FitDay community and also the bodybuilding.com forum that does a nice job of filtering the crap, BS and slagging at many forums.

in essence, find your basal metabolic rate and limit your calorie count to something around 70-80% of that but no less than 1200 a day. get your calories from unflavoured oatmeal, bran cereal, skim, legumes, veggies, fruits, limited lean meat, limited nuts, there is more other options too. excercise. repeat.

A diet? what sort of diet, rapid weight loss don't care what it does to your body? bulking diet? trimming diet?
Basically eat three times a day, for instance one egg wholemeal bread each morning. Some kind of salad at lunch (Don't be one of those people who thinks they are being healthy with salad when it's got dressings, cheese, and a whole heap of the stuff on a plate) Then at night eat one singular breast of chicken and some steamed vegetables, maybe some fish, beef maybe once a week. But keep the portion sizes down. Don't eat two hours before bed. Don't snack, don't eat dessert. Don't drink alcohol, don't drink cola, or any other carbonated drink.
Also start working out, you're not going to achieve anything if your not burning the calories already stored as fat off. You need to find you maintenance calorie (the amount that if you eat you will neither gain or lose weight, the knock some calories off this value, exercise and you lose weight.
It's important to remember listen to your body, if you start feeling ill stop. A diet shouldn't be primarily about weight loss, it should be generally about trying to get more healthy altogether. Things like atlkins and these other drink water for 12 days, yes you'll lose weight, but you'll also become malnourished and therefore unhealthy.
So generally a healthy diet, with three smaller portion meals a day, cutting out the dessert and especially beer, whilst working out will lead to weight loss. Ohh and drink a healthy amount of water, although it sounds obvious, water is absoloutly wonderful for you, and you'll see the benefits in energy levels, your body will thank you, and your skin will look better.
Look at places like mens health, they have a lot of good weightloss resources.

I would start by reading everything in the Nutrition section of Lyle McDonald's site: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nutrition If you're in a hurry you could start with these articles: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nut...on-part-1.html http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nut...on-part-2.html
