Wearing Drakkar Noir

First, lets get this out of the way, I'm in highschool. Second i don't wear Drakkar because i here it's a chick magnet or w/e, I wear it because it smells good and people seem to like it, aside from that I think the smell matches pretty well with me. With that said.

I heard it's really strong and easy to over apply, thats the problem, sorta. I usually spray it twice on my neck, once on either side on the front, and once on my wrist. I've been wearing it for about two weeks and havn't gotten a reaction from it. My friend on the other hand just got hollister california. He sprayed me on the arm with it from a foot or two away this morning and i can still smell it now at 4. So the strong cologne isn't strong enough or i'm not using the right amount. If you use/used Drakkar, how much did you spray and where?

If you wear it often you'll become desensitized to the odor, you're probably suffocating those around you but they're too polite to pipe up, especially with 5 sprays. I sold mine awhile ago (gift) but used only 2 sprays.

Colognes sit differently on different people. DN smells awful to me (and incidentally, most of the young women that I'm around), on me, and lasts even after a shower. Gucci (by Gucci) on the other hand smells great on me, but doesn't last more than half an hour. It sticks to my little brother all day long. DN probably doesn't work on you, which is fine. The younger crowd doesn't like it for me the most part, and you probably won't get a positive reaction from it anyway. Also, if you haven't had any reactions to it, how do you know that most people seem to like it? Edit: I know you didn't ask for it, but try these: -Givenchy: Pi Neo (EVERYONE loves this one- men, women, younger, older, etc.) -Givenchy: Play -Gucci: Gucci -Chanel: Allure Homme Sport

I wore Drakkar Noir back in the early 80's, when it first came out. I'm not sure of it's potency now, but it was always very strong, and lots of people couldn't tell they were wearing to much. I liked to spray it in front of me (1 time), and walk into it. It did seem to spread it out more, without over powering one specific area, and that would explain your friend spraying it, and it lasting longer.

i only use 3 sprays usually, i'm wondering because i haven't gotten a single word about it yet my friend has had the hollister stuff (if you ask me a 100 dollar bottle of 10 dollar cologne) for a day and gotten a bunch of reactions...

Because it doesn't smell like ass. I'm not a Hollister/Abercrombie fan, but that's what every high school girl likes. Look in to the ones I mentioned- teenage girls don't think that they suck either. They also aren't overpowering. Drop the DN. Maybe 10 years from now, but it'd be like trying to wear Royal English Leather right now (except that REL doesn't smell gross).

colognes dont stay on me very well for some reason. i also use very light sents. i can spray up to 8 times on me and noone has ever told me i over spreyed.

That's because Drakkar is old-school, hollister is new and their target market has been conditioned to believe that it's good. Actually - not so much 'good' as 'familiar' and 'cool' and 'hip'. They smell your Drakkar, but it's not a popular scent, therefore, no comment.

Welcome to herd mentality 101. Also, welcome to the choice between having your own taste (better or worse) and doing your own thing vs. taking the popular route.

You know, I wonder just how far conditioning can move a product's perception. Let's say that some prankster changes the stock A&F room cologne with bottles (marked A&F) of 'kitty-bum'. For discussion purposes let's say it's not too bad, maybe it's got some orange in there, to make it seem deliberate, but it's not pleasant. After a few months, will everyone seek out the 'kitty-bum' smell? Because that's what they got used to in A&F? Food for thought.

BTW: - OP - You will probably get laid more if you go with the hollister.
