Tailor ruined my suit. Help, need advice!! - Page 2

How much did it need taken in that she removed the side vents? I've had several suits taken in along the sides (taking them in at the center seam can raise the bottom back of the coat) and never had a problem. Very strange. I would get a new person to do your alterations.

1. Post the name and city of that tailor here, please.

2. Post an appropriate review on Yelp.

I also have had this done numerous times. Often they would take the jackets in on the sides and cut new vents. I've never had a problem.

She sounds more like an alterationist than a tailor.

She sounds like a trained assassin. If a tailor were to remove my vents, my knees would buckle with fury

You can't take a suit in at the back, or only very little. It is always done at the side seam. And the tailor has no excuse whatsoever to do away with the vents, she was telling you nonsense. But it means remaking the vents and maybe she is not skilled enough for that.

Adding a vent at center back is not possible as stated above.

Better to find another tailor and ask her to bear the cost of the jacket. By the way what was her arguement in this?

Give me the coat and tailor and I will burn them both!!
Um, well, tailors are not for burning. I tried, but I didn't really catch fire. And a bad coat, well, there are few things as satisfying as a large pair of shears and a vociferous cut.

I opened up a jacket one time that I had narrowed to see how it was done, and it is a really simple alteration to narrow from the sides with side vents. As I said previously, narrowing from the center seam will raise the rear of the coat, so you don't want to have that done.

That's BS, I just had a good deal of waist suppression added to my coat with side vents. The tailor recognized that it had already been done to a degree on the jacket, but he was still able to take it in, leave the vents, and everything was fine.

This woman sounds either incompetent, dishonest, or both. Take her to small claims court, and find another tailor.
