New York City: most random day

Thread Starter
Friend is coming to the city for a day. Would like to spend the day doing completely random and different things.

These should be:

1) interesting
2) fun
3) legal

Please recommend some different things to do besides restaurants, shopping, the MOMA, or the Guggenheim, because that's all I could think of this morning.

LES Tenement Museum is cool, with an interactive exhibit using an actor...also the new Museum of the American gangster...Brighton Beach for some Russian Food and Coney Island...you could go stroller dodging in Park Slope...Astoria for some Greek nightclubbing...SI ferry ride...Cloisters Museum way uptown

I think mooning the Statue of Liberty is pretty random, you should do that.

Go kayak down the Hudson and contemplate Lady Liberty upclose from the water.

This is pretty good.

I'd add finishing with a hidden K-town karaoke joint late into the night. Other cool things:

- Banh Mi at Mott and Broome
- A round of "Where's Mafoofan" on the UWS
- Score some fake weed in Washington Square Park (not illegal because it will be oregano)
- Sneak into Columbia's Butler library and explore the complex of underground passageways (super cool and creepy)
- Lose yourself in the stacks of the world-famous Strand bookstore and pick-up some cheap reads
- Scope out hotties on the Sheep Meadow in Central Park

I need more photos for this to be a conclusive determination, but SP certainly appears to have a very nicely preserved body on her!

I would go Flushing Queens for some ethnic food or go to Arthur Ave. in the Bronx for the real NY Little Italy.
