I was there on Sunday, and Saks was mostly cleared out. There is a selection of Zenga shoes at -40%. Clothes at -30%. Neimans was also fairly picked over.

I wonder if they take a deeper discount after the new year.

Over the weekend I saw an interesting pair of black Brioni oxfords, plaintoe with a medallion at Saks Off Fifth in Leesburg. $399 then take 20% off. Storeworn, marked size 11 though looked small for that size.

There's some Briggs and Riley luggage at Nordstrom Rack in Gaithersburg and Potomac Mills. From the Baseline collection, 20/22/24/26 inch uprights are priced at 149/159/169/179.

Saks men's store at mazza galleria is having a decent sale - 50% off all of their private label sweaters including merino and cashmere and an additional 25% off of all clearance merchandise.

I saw a particularly nice loro piana cashmere/silk blend coat for 75% off or so.

Anything going on these days? I was going to stop in the FB at Mazza earlier but was there way too early and headed home instead. Haven't been shopping in quite a while, so I don't even know if anyone has much of anything in stock.

Not much sale activity anywhere around here as far as I can tell besides Jos A Bank.

There is a GREAT selection of high-end goods at the FB (Filene's Basement) on Connecticut Avenue -- upstairs across from the cash registers (behind the Oxxford suits) -- a few racks from Mitchell's (with clothes also from Richards in Greenwich, Marshs in Huntington, and Wilkes Bashford in SF) -- great items from Anna Matuozzo, Kiton, Canali, the new line of Oxxford - including Oxxford slacks, Brioni (including a sick black velvet tux) and others. Not on sale yet, but such a great selection you always have to weigh the question "should I buy now at a decent price, or buy later at a great price but take the risk that it will be gone by then?"
Also when you get off the elevator on the second floor, on a table in front of you there are some high-end neckties (Bizzochi, etc. etc. - obviously from Mitchell's) and just a few pair of shoes from Mitchell's as well, but nothing of note -- just some Tod's and some others but nothing great at all --- so concentrate on the ties and the racks behind the Oxxford Suits (marked by yellow signs with "Mitchell's" on them.)

Went to the opening of Nordstrom Rack in Pentagon Row last night. Regarding shoes, I'd estimate a larger selection that the Gaithersburg and Sterling locations but smaller than Potomac Mills. In my size, fair amount of AE. Weybridge and Evanston mostly, as well as a loafer and some of the Crosstown collection shoes. Didn't see any Santoni which I was really looking for. Men's suits and shirts about the same as the other area Rack locations.

Was at the Marshalls in Pentagon City. They had 2 RL Purple label navy solid suits for $999. MSRP is/was 2695 according to the tag. One was a 44L and the other was a 40R (i think).

I actually saw three or four of these yesterday, including a 42L I might have bought if it had not had a tiny tear near the left shoulder.

Wm. Fox (1427 G St. NW) had a pretty good selection of wool ties on sale for $65. I picked up a Drakes green background with dry flies, normally $155.00 They also had some nice S&S with list price in the $130 range. Lots of odds and ends, but the ties screamed "buy me."

Saks Off Fifth Leesburg, VA
Buy 1 get One free - Suits, Sport coats and dress pants.
40% off dress shirts and ties,
They had quite a few Ermenegildo Zegna and Brioni Sport coats.
I have seen several Calvin Klein Collection jackets and suits as well.

Anyone got any opinions on the new NM Last Call that recently opened at Congressional Plaza on Rockville Pike? They seem to only carry Hickey Freeman suits.

Nordstrom Rack going in at Friendship Heights where the BB&B used to be. Can't remember what the sign said about opening.

It's SHITE. Lot's of own brand stuff. I tried some of their Cashmere socks at $14 and they are rubbish (way too thin) and in the trash after 2 wears.
