RRL at 1069 Wisconsin Ave. NW "” which stocks Ralph Lauren's vintage-inspired line "” will sell its last leather belt to Georgetown shoppers this weekend.

The store, pronounced "double R-L," has been open since June 2007 and will close Feb. 21.

"It was a strategic business decision to close the store," said

Ryan Lally, director of corporate communications for Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. "The RRL merchandise assortment, which is available at other Ralph Lauren stores in the D.C. area, will be enhanced."

The RRL line is named after Ralph Lauren's ranch in Ridgway, Colo. and made its North American debut in the early 1990s.

There will be no impact to Ralph Lauren's Rugby store next door at 1065 Wisconsin Ave. or its café, said the company, adding that all other D.C. Ralph Lauren stores will remain open.

The New York-based retail giant (NYSE: RL) reported earnings of $105 million for the three months ended Dec. 27, or $1.05 per diluted share, compared to $113 million, or $1.08 per diluted share, for the same period a year earlier.

Anything still left on sale in Chevy Chase or Bethesda?

Filene's Basement suit event is starting on March 15. You can pay/put stuff on hold and then pickup on the 15th. The Connecticut Ave and Mazza Gallerie locations have Oxxford 50% down to $599. Luciano Barbera for $599 as well but it felt fused. Hickey Freeman for $399. The suit event discount does not apply.

I saw these two golf bags for only $250 at Ross in Bailey's Crossroads last night:

Not a sale per se, but I have to say that I finally had some luck at Nordstrom Rack in Rockville.

Picked up four pocket squares; three were only $10 and one was $20 (a bit high, but oh well). I also got a pair of chocolate suede Calvin Klein wing-tips. They were massively cheap so worth the CK label and lack of toe medallion. But comfortable and very good looking. Oh, and I got a pack of 12 handkerchiefts for like $5.

I only discovered the PSs by getting down and digging through a bin on the floor. So sometimes it pays to be inquisitive.

Filene's in Rockville got couple of Armani Jeans pieces and a Zegna Sport pullover. A lot of European stuff for the ladies - Brioni to Valentino to Chloe

For once the Rockville location got a Vault shipment but more selection can be found at the other DC locations. For example only Armani ties here while the others have Brioni or Borrelli ties as well. They also didn't at first glance appear to have any nice 50% off suits (Oxxford, Hickey Freeman, Canali) that Connecticut Ave and Mazza Gallerie do because they don't carry those to begin with.

Anything left at the Tysons Saks or Mazze Galleria? Is ths consolidation sale over?

I went to the new Neiman Marcus Last Call at Potomac Mills. I snagged a pair of John Lobb Philip II there, though I've never seen JL at NMLC at Arundel (the other one close to DC). Nothing remarkable about the rest of the shoes in my size, lots of Bruno Magli.

Lately I've been to a bunch of DC area TJ Maxx locations and pickings for Robert Talbott cufflinks are pretty slim.

Anything going on in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase Area? What about the Ralph Lauren store?

I assume the Mazza Gallerie Filene's also got the big Barney's shipment a few days ago. The downtown National Press Filene's actually got a pretty decent amount from Barney's, so that usually means the Conn. Ave and Mazza stores got much bigger selections (3+ racks).

What kind of stuff did they have?

Any good business wear? I don't go for Barney's usual SW&D-style clothing. But they used to have nice bowties that I picked up at FB.

No suits; two blazers; loads of Barney's label shirts; some Malo and Avon Celli shirts and sweaters; various designer jeans; some Armani. I didn't see any really great stuff though -- i.e., no Kiton, Charvet, Turnbull, Borrelli, Lorenzini, etc. BUT, the National Press Filene's usually doesn't get the good stuff.

Nice 42R (fitting more like a 42L) Barneys 100% cashmere double-breasted, peak lapel blue overcoat. Was $2800, marked down to $499. Was tempted, but passed. This was at the Filenes on Connecticut Ave. last night.
