Cool, inexpensive furniture in Toronto?

Where can I find decent quality/comfortable modern furniture in Toronto? All I really need is a bed, sofa/sectional, sitting chair (not necessary if I get a sofa w/chaise sectional), coffee table, couple end tables and a couple night tables. Is it possible to do all that for $5,000-7,000?

I can do the bed at Ikea for $400 and pick up a matching night table, but I'm not a big fan of their sofas, sectionals or chairs.

As long as you're not looking for really high-end designer stuff. If you're satisfied with higher end contemporary furniture i'm sure there's places you can get good quality/price. Definitely don't buy a sofa from ikea. Terrible quality. I bought most my furniture for about 7k (large dining table, 6 chairs, loveseat+sofa) and it's good quality, mostly solid wood frames and wood veneer surfaces. I got my dining table 50% off which and got a discount on a sofa and the 6 dining chairs too. I'm sure there are places that are struggling that would be happy just to move inventory right now... I will say that I bought most of my furniture at once and kinda regret it. My tastes have evolved over the years but I guess when you're starting out and have nothing it's hard to resist that temptation. I'd be tempted to redo my place if I didn't have plans to move overseas in a couple years. So, what I'm saying is maybe it wouldn't be a terrible idea to buy cheap disposable stuff (ikea) while you take a more studied approach to choosing furniture. edit: as always, check CL, but i looked at it in montreal/toronto and never saw anything interesting.

I don't know about in Toronto, but check to see if room and board or CB2 ships.

I'm in Canada and have ordered from CB2 before.

Firstly, I believe there is a thread on this... but can't find it now Did some research on this not too long ago, here are some stores: Structube http://www.kioskdesign.ca/ http://www.nienkamper.com/default.asp Italinterior - http://maps.google.ca/maps/place?hl=...92462626736064 http://visitorparking.ca/ maybe Elte? not sure how high end they are though. And three people’s Google maps, specifically with Toronto furniture stores!: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0...MKH-zQS_lciJCw http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0...MKH-zQS_lciJCw http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0...MKH-zQS_lciJCw

What did you order? Were there any additional charges for being in Canada? How much was S&H?

CB2 is actually opening up in Toronto quite soon - they'll be at Bathurst and College if I recall.

nice. If a product is in stock, CB2 shipping in NYC is very cheap, I imagine it will be the same for Toronto. I had a big $300 carpet delivered for like $15 on the same day.

This makes me happy. The stuff at CB2 is exactly what I'm looking for and in the right price range.

How soon is soon? Like between now and June?

at worst, just pay the full shipping. They have some good stuff, I am very happy with my CB2 products.

Structube is pretty low quality imo.

I just ordered a couple of lamps. Big lamps mind you, but lamps nonetheless. Shipping even for those was a little pricey, but you can figure it out on their site. You may get dinged with a littel customs hit as well. But that's normal by now for pretty much anything coming in to Canada.
