You all do realize that j and I are people, right? I think that the problem that some of you think that we are a big corporation, not just two guys. Big corporations have to take all sorts of complaints because the peons answering the phones in customer service have been told by the guys at the top who don't have to deal with the hassle that they have to take crap all day. No, it's not like that at all. The people who get comped drinks in bars and get served fastest are the regulars who are polite and tip well.

I'm already married. If I want to get nagged, I just need to leave crap lying around the house.

by the same token, we're just people who enjoy your forum and are making recommendations on how we think it might be better run. we're not shareholders or whiny customers asking for returns and threatening to take our business elsewhere.

and don't worry, i don't think anyone believes this is a professionally run organization. jkjkjk.

Yes, we know. The time for suggestions has been over for a while now. If you actually care and aren't just trying to be irritating, you could read some of the threads where we discussed the rules and upcoming changes to the forum.

i'm sure every active member and even not so active members have suggestions they think will be game changing.

If all these ideas were to be taken into consideration, we wouldn't have a very productive forum, and a seller would hve to pay 30-40% of their sales to pay for all extra nodding needed.

Sf ain't broke. Why try to fix it?

Sit back, enjoy it for what it is mate. find some great deals and if they don't work, put it back on sale to cover your expense. If you find some neat stuf you think people will enjoy, list it, make a buck, have sex with your wife, come tell us about it in general, get the thread mooov'd to Dt, make a conne joke, pick on a noooobie who's asking how to care for his Kenneth coles, pile onto another thread, get angry at a CE thread, pause for a minute to rub one out, browse FS for more cucinelli, throw the guy an offer, ask him about a trade, then go to MC to discuss the cucinelli jkt you bought and argue with the haters about how bc<LP or LP <BC, get belittled by the golden triangle, search for sho'nuffs poasts,

And finally when you get hungry, go to foods and find a recipe for the best bison burger around.

See how many things you can do to get your mind off the trivial inconveniences?

Although your work seems to go unappreciated, there are a ton of people who appreciate what you do. People like to whine about how things are, but they would much rather have what's here than nothing at all. Everyone has an opinion about what could be better. Don't let them bother you.

How is it that these "see my stuff on ebay [LINK]" threads get started and bumped ('auctions end in three days!') without any issue?

Ultimately, I don't really care (I'm not a seller), but I do think it's unfair to the sellers who are actually using B&S to sell their wares. If I wanted to shop for stuff on eBay, I'll search on eBay...

I responded to comment in one of my FS threads but made certain to open the listing to offers of trade for size 10.5D shoes in the same post. Now I see my FS thread is locked and the comment removed. http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=175157


Is opening a listing up to offers no longer considered a valid reason to post in your own FS thread?

If so then can we change the rules listed here?

Maybe it's because of all the other times you bumped that thread in order to respond to a question.

IIRC, if you are offering something exclusive to B&S (as I do with free shipping to SF members), you can... but I could be wrong.

That would make sense to me, but all the "Ebay items ending in one day..., ending in an hour..., new stuff listed on Ebay..." posts seem like overkill.

Also makes sense to me, and I don't think it's a big deal to post - once - a link to a bunch of ebay stuff, especially if there's a SF discount of some kind. That's effectively the same as a single listing. But given the strictness with which 'bumps' are enforced, I don't see how you can bump such a thread - but people do it all the time.

The rules are the rules. I think the mods have been consistent on not making significant changes to the rules for a while, and we should respect that instead of offering the same suggestions again and again. If you don't like the rules, you can always choose not to participate, like many other such situations in life.

I think the best thing we can do to show support for the forum is to report violations of the rules, since the mods are not going to read every thread. I try to whenever I have the time to do so. And BTW I think it's lame when reporting violations is labelled as "snitching". That mentality should stay back in grade school.
