He must be really desperate for cash. By doing the interview he took a HUGE risk. First, I doubt the current mob bosses appreciate him talking to the media. Plus, the feds will dissect every second of that tape to find some other reason to indict him for more charges.

I couldn't believe he kind of admitted his dad was involved in the neighbors disappearance. Everyone knew but it was never admitted. I think he is probably out of the family business. The Gambinos were sick of the gottis and the attention they brought on the family. He probably didn't risk much at all going on the show.
