lol @ hedi ripping off checkered vans on the tongue and is that leopard? i think he's managed to incorporate that into most of his tacky designs

Maybe I should post in @DLester's shame thread, but there's a pair I want this season that has a leopard print wave on it.

From Mr Porter's cordial sales I got my first pair of fancy-ass sneakers by Lanvin, and wrote a detailed review about the pair.

In short: the finest materials, make and design I've found so far among sneakers, but not worth the full retail price.

VRaivio, I agree. Lanvins are my favorite baller sneaker. The quality of materials is amazing and they feel great on. However, I never pay retail - the prices are just crazy. I wait until the big sales at Mr Poter, SSENSE, Barneys, etc. My next pair will be the navy suede with patent cap toes. I have been trying to find them on sale for years with no luck, so I may have to bite the bullet and pay retail for them frown.gif

A lot of the permanent colors don't go on sale. You can usually find them on ssense and other online retailers that are more flexible with stock however.

Also I don't think Lanvin sneakers are over-priced when compared to the rest of the luxury sneaker market. They're priced slightly higher than GATs but significantly lower than other designer brands (usually 475 USD).

Keykoo, in a world of $1500 Balmain high tops/$1200 Annchucks/$1000 Rafs, I agree $475 isn't bad. However, in the grand scheme of things, no one (not even us) needs $475 sneakers. But ya gotta have a hobby biggrin.gif

You seem to be quite enamored with them to post 11 pictures and have shoe trees in them.

Supergenius, if you're looking for a rare colour/material combination, perhaps you could just get a close-enough pair and have it re-dyed. I've seen great end results from experiments where the old dye is stripped and a new one applied.

jet: it wouldn't be much of a review if I didn't provide photos for the reader. The shoe trees show that, yes, leather sneakers can be taken care of and they will look and wear the better for it.

VRaivio, the other idea I had was to get one of the less popular color combinations that is close to what I want. The navy suede/black patent is part of the permanent collection that doesn't go on sale, but i have seen the petrol blue suede/gray patent on sale. I could be happy with those as a close second. Now, to find my size...

FYI. The retail price of Lanvins in Italy were 300 euro. Which, while still pricey, is more digestible. We get the shaft over here in the US.

They are fantastic shoes besides the lame fact they don't come in half sizes.

I saw that the prices are lower in Canada, too. I will be in Toronto at Christmas time and plan to buy the navy suede/black patent cap toe ones while I'm there. Not sure why we have the honor of paying more in the US...

475 ain't crazy, it's a very well made sneaker with great quality, makes me want to buy another pair

jesus christ man, does the "not worth retail" discussion need to happen for the 3 millionth time... Value is subjective.

The finest materials? just no
The finest design? just... no. Judging design by a fine-finer-finest scale? Lol. Killer description brah

You really, honestly think your blog is worth reading?
