I think one the important points that is being missed is that the store is in Australia, I don't feel like there is a whole lot of competition close by

Trying the shoes on would be great, that's true -- but I still don't understand why people would then get on their portable internets and not order them at the best price they can find.

Depends on what the product is and what sizes are generally available at lower prices. Also depends on what the potential discount may be - is it worth the time? Not everyone rally cares to save just a few bucks. Some also place a certain amount of value of having a local store to go into should there be any issues with the product.

I think that goes with every store though and as stated before, the store consolidating all these shoes and brands in one place makes it easier for those looking for these shoes. Like in Beverly Hills for example, you have to walk around from store to store to check out all of these shoes and honestly, more than half of the stock at Sneakerboy isn't even in-store. So yeah there are certainly risks of customers buying elsewhere but it's no different than Barney or NM or Saks, I'm pretty sure plenty of shoppers does same thing. I have done it. Their biggest hope is probably that in Australia, there isn't another store that offers these brands and all in one place to check out.

It'll be a honey hole for rappers and hip-hop artists too for sure, there is already a co-signment/hypebeast sneaker store in Australia that they flock to when they go to Australia and this one will be their new spot to visit.

Also, the store will make their money from the current hype on Balenciaga, those rarely goes on sale and sells out within minutes for retail. Plenty of these shoes sells for retail too, they are just discussed here more when they are on sale so sometimes it seems like no one buys them for retail at all.

I really don't know how much sustainability their concept has but I think it'll do well for a few years or so. I know most of you thinks baller sneakers are dead but they are still going strong outside of SF.

People talk as if Australia is fashion central and there's a Sneakerboy equivalent just down the street.

+ tax/import duties, shipping cost/wait time etc. = online shopping from another country isn't cheaper if Australia anything like Canada

It doesn't seem like a good idea to me, but people are stupid, consumers are stupid, so it's hard to predict whether it will work or not.

oh cool a 19 year old thinks this is a great business idea

Australia doesn't have to pay tax / import duties on anything unless it's over $1000 or $1500. And AUD was pretty strong until recently so it was probably quite easy to get stuff for cheap.

farfetch.com is my favorite site...always seems to have amazing deals because they pull from such a large base.
