The original Hi's have more strap detailing and some perforation halfway back the shoe, ever since I noticed I feel the newer ones look unbalanced.

So are they not the black ones I posted? I like the design of that black pair best, but I bought what was available.

I think it depends on the material, and which materials they're sticking where.

Can anyone link to a year by year retrospective?

Wish they didn't have the gold lettering, but pretty cool IMO

In that price range, I still think non-arena Balenciagas are king.

the sole's are like a lanvin / balenciaga hybrid. kind of cool but the upper looks weird. i like the malibus more .

I actually like those ysl. Kinda like a revamped version of the rolling. Wasn't feeling all the chunky silhouettes they were putting out.

Last season´s YSL hightops were the best. But this pair looks nice. Still, if they´re in the close to 600 price range, I´d go try to get a pair from last season.

that fucking logo.

I tried on some Lanvin low-tops on the weekend (black / black suede with patent leather toe caps) and I was surprised at how uncomfortable they were. Do they soften up at all after wearing? I like the look, but they weren't kind to my feet.

don't understand the hate for the logo.  YSL logo has always seemed gaudy as fuck to me.  I like the return to more subtle branding.
