Really thinking about getting a pair, and I'd like to get a pair that will hold up for atleast 2-3 years with proper care(but hopefully more)
Been mostly looking at the Diemme Firenzes and some Mark McNairys, but anyone have any other suggestions?

I wouldn't say it's "the last few months" they blew up. AFAIK Diemme led the charge on contrast laces way back when, and that had trickled all the way down to DKNY by the time F/W 2010 rolled around:

I have two pairs of Diemmes I like for their contrast soles. Haven't worn them too much as I got them this year after the worst of the winter was over, but they're comfy and I like them. Yours above look a little more streamlined than mine, but one of them is shearling lined which at least partly accounts for its clunkiness in outward appearance. I've heard the soles offer very little traction on ice, though I'm downtown enough I don't really encounter many floes (everything is cement and salted so there's always somewhere safe to step).
