So let me understand how stupid this thing is. There is a level of "Double Gold Medal" and that doesn't even mean you are the best, because there is also "Best xxxx, Double Gold Medal?"

This is the reason why every goddamn winery in California is able to advertise witht he whole "awarded a gold medal in the SF World spirits competition," even though their wine might suck.

those kinds of competitions are like kids birthday parties, where even the most "special" guest gets a gift. ever wonder how in a wine competition, half of the entries or more will get medals?

And there is a best in show only awarded to certain Double Gold Medalists.

This is supposed to be "the best" spirits competition...YMMV.
